Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

When you install solar panels on your home or business, you generate clean electricity from your roof. This energy is supplied directly to your property, offsetting your bills and protecting you against rising electricity rates in the future. How much you can save depends on your consumption and utility costs, but going solar is a smart investment regardless.

The cost of a solar system can vary based on factors such as the size and quality of the system, as well as the complexity and type of roof on which it will be installed. For a typical domestic installation consisting of 10 panels (4.25kWp) and a 5.8kWh battery, the starting price can be as low as £8,500 (including scaffolding allowance) for a straightforward setup.

In the case of larger commercial installations, economies of scale come into play, often resulting in a lower cost per kWp of solar installed. Additionally, commercial installations can offer greater returns on investment due to higher energy prices typically faced by businesses and a higher level of self-consumption during daylight working hours. For a personalised quotation tailored to your specific needs, please contact our team.

Every property is different, thats why we offer a free quotation service for all our customers. Just fill in the information below and one of our friendly team will contact you to discuss your renewable energy aspirations.

If possible please include your current electricity tariff rate and estimated annual consumption. You should be able to find both of these figures on your latest bill or annual review from your energy provider.

In most cases you do not need planning permission for solar panels on a building because Solar PV falls under permitted development.

Although there are a few instances where it may need to be considered. We will be able to advise you on these conditions or you can learn more on the Planning Portal here.

Yes, you can get paid for the energy you do not use.

The SEG launched on 1 January 2020 and is a government-backed initiative. The SEG requires some electricity suppliers, known as SEG Licensees, to pay small-scale generators, known as SEG Generators, for the low-carbon electricity which they export back to the National Grid. You can learn more about the SEG here.

Solar panels work by capturing and converting the energy contained in sunlight into electrical energy.

Using solar panels we can turn an often useless roof space into a productive asset generating clean, affordable renewable energy that can then be used in a home or business.

A typical solar system includes:

  1. The solar panels to collect energy.
  2. A mounting system to support the panels.
  3. The inverter to convert the DC energy generated from the panels to the AC energy we use in our homes and businesses.
  4. Suitable cables to connect and transmit the energy.
  5. Equipment such as breakers to safely connect the system to your distribution panels.
  6. Generation meter to measure how much energy you have generated.

Solar systems can also include a battery system to store up excess energy for later use. These can be DC integrated directly into your system through the use of a hybrid inverter or AC coupled as a later addition with the use of a battery charger unit. AC coupled batteries are a common solution for older solar systems that benefit from the FIT scheme because they are standalone units and do not alter the FIT registered system.
